The North-East Coast

The North-East coast of Baikal is quite a wild area and therewith a good goal for the longer tours and expeditions made by boat or foldboat. Its big piece (about 300 km) lacks any settlements and drives. Many torrents and streams leaving the slopes of the Barguzinsky mountains make trekking there more difficult: one has to pass them what sometimes turns out to be a problem in spring or in summer after rains. The whole North-East costal zone is a strict protected area. To travel there one has to obtain a permission from one of the both National parks – Frolihinsky or Barguzinsky.
